Rock climbing Mayrhofen, Penken
Rock climbing routes and via ferratas at Penken Mountain
You prefer life on the vertical rather than hurtling down the mountain? You prefer getting about on all fours rather than meandering through meadows on foot? The Action Mountain offers two rock climbing parks with more than 60 routes to try out your skills. The climbs at Gschöss and Knorren will test mind and body, especially arms and legs.
Gschöss offers more ambitious climbers 21 routes ranging in difficulty from grade 4 to 8. Knorren offers the same variety, from beginners to advanced.

  • Climbing Area Gschöss for sportive climbers:
    21 routes – Grade 4 to 8
  • Climbing Area Knorren for beginners and advanced:
    30 routes – Grade 4 to 8+
At the 'Via Ferrata for Everybody', visitors of Mayrhofen can enjoy care-free and safe climbing, before moving on to steeper climbs. There are also four rock climbing schools providing tips and tricks on grappling your way up the mountain. You can rent the equipment for free at the Funsportstation.

More information on the routes in our special rock climbing guide "Kletterführer Penken" available at all lift ticket counters of the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen or at the right side of this page as download (only in German). Using our rock climbing parks and the equipment is always at your own risk!
